but hillcrest is more than just a neighborhood; it's a family. and like any family, it thrives on the contributions of its members.

if you’re looking to get involved in hillcrest and make a difference, i want to make the recommendations below based on my experiences! so yes, i am a little biased.

kiwanis lgbtq

the kiwanis all-inclusive club of hillcrest (lgbtq) is dedicated to serving our community through various service projects and initiatives. whether it's helping out at local events, organizing fundraisers, or supporting youth programs, there are numerous ways to contribute. check out their instagram for upcoming volunteer opportunities and meetings. subscribe to their club & event meeting calendar.

• meetings: meet in-person on the 2nd and 4th thursdays of each month, 6:30 pm, at uptown tavern!

hillcrest town council

the hillcrest town council (htc) is another great organization to get involved with. they are, in essence, a neighborhood association for hillcrest. they focus on improving the quality of life in hillcrest by addressing community concerns, advocating for neighborhood improvements, and organizing community events. they hold monthly meetings where you can learn more about their initiatives and how you can help. visit their website for more details and meeting schedules. sign up for their newsletter here.

• meetings:

  • general monthly meetings (in-person): second tuesday of every month, 6:30pm-8:30pm

  • advisory committee meetings (on zoom only): last monday of every month, 7pm-9pm.

hillcrest business association

the hillcrest business association (hba) is known for organizing some of the most beloved community events in our neighborhood though its brand, fabulous hillcrest. from the hillcrest farmers market to the annual cityfest, there are plenty of opportunities to volunteer and support these events. volunteering with hba is a great way to meet new people, support local businesses, and contribute to the vibrant atmosphere of hillcrest.

the hba also holds quarterly community open houses at a local business. these mixer style events are a great way to network with your neighbors, with bites and drinks provided. check their website for upcoming events & volunteer sign-ups. sign up for the hba’s newsletters here.

• meetings: monthly on the second tuesday, 3pm-5pm, at the hba building in hillcrest.

vibrant uptown is a community organization dedicated to enhancing the liveability and vibrancy of the uptown neighborhoods, including hillcrest. they focus on promoting uptown neighborhood as a place to live, work, and play for all. advocating for abundant housing policies, efficient & safe mobility, and public spaces where people and businesses can thrive.
