hey everyone,
it's time to talk about something huge brewing that could reshape hillcrest in some pretty amazing ways.
on june 13, the land use & housing committee (lu&h) of the city council of san diego is voting on plan hillcrest.
this isn't just any planβit's a major step towards making hillcrest more vibrant, accessible, and inclusive than ever before. hereβs the agenda for your reference.
plan hillcrest is all about transforming our neighborhood. think bus lanes to zip through the city, bikeways for safer and greener travels, and converting certain streets like university and robinson avenues to one-way to improve flow and safety. not just that, pedestrian safety is a big priority, making strolls through hillcrest not just easier, but safer.
but hereβs the kicker: this plan also designates hillcrest as a special cultural district. this means our legacy, especially our lgbtq+ legacy, gets recognized and protected. imagine walking tours highlighting historic sites and cool art installations celebrating our diversity. plus, legacy businesses, the heart of our nightlife and culture, will get long-term protections.
finally, a plan that acknowledges and secures the essence of what makes hillcrest, well, hillcrest.
we need your voice. the vote on this is crucial, and showing up means supporting a brighter, safer hillcrest. hereβs how you can make a difference:
